Retirement Income from Exercising Neurons?

Legitimate Income from Legitimate Tools.

Retirement Income and excellent heart and brain health all from the same tools? And you can use and market these tools without advanced degrees, certifications, licenses, ect? (The directions are so clear and easy that you can practice at your computer, without paying an expert! Yes!)(See the links below for e-books).

If you read my About Me Page, then you know I am a mid-life career changer. I returned to graduate school in my early 40's, got my M.S. in Counseling Education, hung out my shingle, and developed a private counseling practice specializing in domestic violence, anger management, and addictions.

You might wonder why I would work in those areas? Well, we teach what we most need to know.

I grew up in a household with a great degree of chaos caused by my parent's addictions, and as a result have a disordered central nervous system prone to hyper-vigilence and disproportionate startle response.

My entire adult life has been spent seeking some kind of inner peace and contentment. I have utilized lots of different tools in my quest, some effective, some not so effective.

One of the most effective tool has been the 11th step of the AA program, which has led me to other tools over the years which have enhanced my inner peace and my health.

And now I find myself at 58 needing to pay special attention to my heart and brain health and my financial health because I have little one's dependent on my being around and fully functional, well, fully functional in my quirky way.

Aging Brain and Biofeedback?

Shortly after completing my Master's degree and becoming a professional, I was introduced to the concept of eeg biofeedback as a tool in the battle against addictions.

I and my partner in this endeavor, Jeremy Croyle, had some good results from eeg biofeedback training for our addictions clients, and in the course of participating in the eeg biofeedback community, I was introduced to HeartMath, or heart rate variability biofeedback.

It is possible to actually train your heart to beat so that the time between heart beats is very consistent.

Not only is it possible, it is easy to learn this process, and once I learn it, I can cue the physiological response anytime I want.

Feel Good and be Healthy HeartMath

HeartMath training utilizes a program on your computer and a finger sensor which reads your pulse and gives you real time information on the change in time between heartbeats (or variability).

The feedback is in the form of visual graphs and auditory chimes.

When I breathe deeply and regularly, and perhaps hold a thought about someone I love, my heart will steady itself and soon my entire body is on that frequency.

Every cell in the body is impacted by either the pneumatic or the electo-magnetic impact of every heart beat, and when the heart beats very consistently, we begin to dance to that beat at the cellular level.

I enjoy cuing a coherent heart rate because it feels good. Nothing in the external world changes, but my internal world does.

Want to see what Gail Harris of PBS Body and Soul has to say about HeartMath?

Your Heart has A Brain of its Own.

Your heart has neurons in it, lots of them, enough that it can make decisions and learn independently of the brain.

There is now an entirely new field of study called neurocardiology studying the heart's nervous system.

In fact, the heart sends more data to the brain than vice-versa.

The heart regulates its own beat, not the brain, and I think most people would assume just the opposite.

Or perhaps you would prefer to order a book called Transforming Stress, which speaks to the HeartMath process? There are also a number of e-books available at this site, which can be at your finger tips with a click of your mouse.

From the book, Transforming Stress: The HeartMath Solution For Relieving Worry, Fatigue, And Tension by Doc Childre and Deborah Rozman, Ph.D.

STRESS-It's the quintessential buzz word of modern life. It hangs on everyone's lips from the first miles of the morning commute until the screeching alarm clock starts yet another day. Countless articles and studies tell the same story: lives controlled by unmanaged stress end early and none too well. This book describes a simple, straightforward method readers can learn and practice to literally transform stress by shifting the heart's own rhythms.

At the core of the HeartMath method of emotional regulation is the idea that, by focusing on positive feelings such as appreciation, care, or compassion, anyone can create dramatic changes in his or her heart rhythms. These changes precipitate a series of neural, hormonal, and biochemical events that dissipate stress and anger and lead to greater well-being. The benefits from using this system are remarkable and far-reaching: blood pressure drops, stress hormone levels fall, immune system activity increases, and anti-aging hormone levels rise. Through its interactive learning system, this book teaches readers to use the HeartMath method, enabling them to see and experience in real time how thoughts and emotions affect their heart rhythms. It teaches them how to engage their hearts to bring emotion, body, and mind into balance, and helps them stay in a zone of focused clarity, optimal health, and high performance. Changes brought about through this method are fast-acting and long-lasting-the perfect antidote to our chaotic and fast-paced lives.

Ride The Wild Divine

I was introduced to The Wild Divine in a professional list serve for eeg biofeedback.

I decided to try it out and have used it for several years now with clients, who I wanted to learn some breathing and attention skills as part of their Anger Management or Domestic Violence psychoeducational program.

It is different from HeartMath in that I move through a kingdom accomplishing various tasks based on my ability to regulate my heart rate variability and galvanic skin response. There are several hours of programming to move through.

I might stack rocks or draw back a bow to target shoot by increasing or decreasing my arousal level, or make a clock work, or build a bridge across a canyon to a temple I need to visit.

So it is like a video game that I run by using finger sensors. No joy stick, no controller.
