"It's more than JUST the MONEY!

Fun Advice on Retirement!

Creating Your Recipe for a Happier, Longer Life in Retirement"

If you are planning to retire soon, or you know someone who is

– You need to know about this! Ignorance is never bliss.

“Forewarned is forearmed, ”, “A stitch in time saves nine!” and,

“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!”

What we have here is

"Honorable Un-Employment"!!

Honorable Un-Employment? Now that is an interesting take on the idea of retirement. The above materials are from Chef Richard Lyon's model for retirement. Chef Lyon has retired from the kitchen to life coaching, and has put together a very interesting model for pre-retirement.

And this is affiliate marketing at its best. If you should happen to enjoy Chef Lyons take on pre-retirement planning, and click on a link, I would make a commission on the sale. We both win, you get an approach to pre-retirement that is invaluable, and I get a commission. Chef Lyon thinks the ingredients from his world famous chocolate sauce can be likened to the ingredients of a sweet retirement.

Here is what Chef Lyons has to say about cooking and pre-retirement.

"Here I'd like to make a little comparison between baking and cooking, and you'll see why. Cooking is more like an art form because you can change it, you can change the outcome at any time up until somebody puts the food into their mouth. You can cook it a little longer, you can add a certain ingredient, you can cover it with a sauce, you can garnish the plate,-- up until the person puts it into their mouth, you can change in cooking. Now baking is more like science. Once you make that recipe and you put it in the oven, that's it. It either comes out good, or it doesn't! And the only way to fix that is to start over with a new recipe or adjust your recipe. So for me, an unplanned retirement is like baking... if you don't have a good recipe, -- you're doomed! So, who would like to have a happier, longer life in retirement? - 15 - As a retired Chef, it was natural for me to see a correlation between the ingredients and preparation of a gourmet recipe, such as my world renowned Chocolate Sauce, and the elements of a balanced, fulfilling Retirement. Through this metaphor, I urge my clients to keep in mind their Values and their Life’s Purpose to bring Balance and Joy to these vital areas:

• Physical • Mental • Emotional • Social • Spiritual 5 HABITS FOR LIVING A HAPPIER,

LONGER LIFE IN RETIREMENT

-- OR --

"HONORABLE UN-EMPLOYMENT"

By COACHLYON - THE Pre-Retirement Coach

As you may, or may not, know there are some startling statistics about how long people live after they retire from life-long careers. The national average for men in the U.S. is only 4 years from retirement to the grave! In California, up to 30% of government employees leave us after only 18 months; and in a study of the aerospace industry, including Boeing and Lockheed, the figure with older workers is only 13 months!!! Why do these people who have been productive citizens for 20-30 years die off so quickly? The main causes for these premature deaths are physical, mental, and emotional losses that occur with that honorable and often well-funded form of UN-EMPLOYMENT we know as Retirement!

Many sources recommend the remedies below, yet a simple review is often “Just what the Doctor ordered...“ I call them “Habits” because; once you make these things daily activities, they will be easier to do, you’ll even miss them if you don’t do them, and your chances for a higher quality of life and prolonged lifespan will be vastly improved. (Note: If you do something for 32 days in a row, without missing a day, you can ‘install’ it as a habit. If you miss a day, start over at Day 1. Try it!)

REGULAR PHYSICAL EXERCISE – Anything from a walk around the block to an ‘iron-man workout’, and anything in between. The important thing here is to get your body up and moving, and your blood circulating. Also, the more you enjoy your chosen exercise, the easier and more attractive it will be to you. Every day is best, however every other day will do!

DO SOMETHING THAT BRINGS A SMILE TO YOUR FACE – EVERY DAY! Walk your dog; play with the grandkids; do some gardening; cook something; tell a joke – whatever gives you a “warm fuzzy”, or a big grin. It is said that “A smile is a curve that can straighten out a lot of problems.”

SOCIALIZE – TALK TO SOMEONE – IN PERSON, OR ON THE PHONE. We’re very social creatures – we need to interact with others to stay happy and healthy. Meet with a friend for ‘coffee’; go to a social event; go to your service club meeting; strike up a conversation in the supermarket! Or even just give someone a call, and chat.

EXERCISE YOUR MIND – EVERY DAY – READ, WRITE, RESEARCH. Pick up a book, newspaper, or magazine – or go on-line and check out something interesting and new. Basically, “turn on your mind” for a while every day. This will keep you sharp and helps fend off boredom, apathy, and sloth -- and can even keep you away from daytime TV which usually engages your senses – but NOT YOUR MIND!

LIST 3 OR MORE THINGS YOU ARE GRATEFUL FOR IN YOUR LIFE – DAILY! - This will get you in touch with how fortunate you are to be living today in the USA! – with the family, friends, and the many things that you are blessed with! An Attitude of Gratitude creates an invitation for more blessings in your life. THANK YOU!
